The B2 rule for settlement, summarised in your language, with the full explanation in English underneath. The exam itself is in English, and so is the free practice; the report after a practice can be translated with your phone.

Why the rest is in English

The exam is a 15-minute conversation in English with a Trinity examiner. The guides on this site are written in plain English at B1 reading level so that reading them is itself practice. If your reading is weaker than your speaking, use the browser's translate function on any page; the facts, dates and links stay the same.

The rule in one paragraph

From 26 March 2027, applications for indefinite leave to remain on the partner route and most work routes need a Secure English Language Test at B2 in speaking and listening. Citizenship stays at B1. Under 18s, over 65s, nationals of majority English-speaking countries, holders of degrees taught in English and people with long-term health conditions are exempt. A B1 pass from an earlier visa does not count. Details: ILR English test.
