Practise your B2 speaking test with an AI examiner

The Trinity GESE Grade 7 conversation, marked A to D with reasons. For the UK settlement English test from 26 March 2027.

  • Same format and questions as the real exam
  • A graded report straight after, with your sentences corrected
  • On your phone, any time. 4 minutes free, no sign-up

Trinity GESE Grade 7 format. Published by Trinity, unchanged for years.

Marked on Trinity’s own criteria. Communication, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation.

Voice processed in the EU. Microsoft Azure. Audio is not stored.

From 26 March 2027, UK settlement needs B2 English, not B1

Speaking and listening only, at an approved test centre, about £160 to £200 an attempt. It applies to the family route and most work routes, including people already on the five-year path. Citizenship stays at B1.

How it works

1

Pick a subject

One of the six Conversation subjects Trinity uses at Grade 7, or bring your own topic for the Topic phase.

2

Talk with the examiner

They greet you, ask, listen and follow up, like in the room. Ask them to repeat if you need to.

3

Get your grade

A to D for the phase and for each of the four criteria, your sentences corrected, and what to fix first.

Conversation phase · Village and city life

Grade C · Pass

B2
  • CommunicationB
  • GrammarC
  • VocabularyC
  • PronunciationB

You said: When I am child I live in small village.

When I was a child I lived in a small village.

Past simple for finished time. Try “used to” for past habits.

A report that tells you why

Not a percentage. A Trinity-style grade for each criterion, the sentences you said next to the sentences a B2 speaker says, and the one thing to fix before your next try.

  • Grade 7 grammar you used, and the chances you missed
  • Which questions you did not catch first time
  • Where you stopped after one sentence

Why people fail B2 speaking

  • One-sentence answers

At B2 you add a reason or an example. The report counts how often you stopped early.

  • Not catching the question

You answer the question you expected. Asking to repeat is fine; guessing is not.

  • Everything in the present tense

Past habits and “used to” are on the Grade 7 list. Every slip is shown, corrected.

  • Freezing

“Well, let me think” is B2 language. Practising the real conversation twenty times is the cure.

Questions

Is this the real test?

No. The real test is taken in person or by video at an approved centre, with a human examiner, and costs about £160 to £200 each time. This is the rehearsal: the same format, the same kind of questions, the same four marking criteria, as often as you like, for a fraction of one attempt.

Which exam does it prepare me for?

Trinity GESE Grade 7, the B2 Speaking and Listening exam. Trinity has said its B2 Speaking and Listening SELT for settlement will follow the GESE Grade 7 format, which has been public for years: a Topic phase, an Interactive phase and a Conversation phase, about 15 minutes in all. If you go with LanguageCert or PSI instead, the conversation practice still helps; we will add their exact formats once their B2 speaking-only tests are confirmed.

Who needs B2?

Anyone applying for indefinite leave to remain on or after 26 March 2027 on the family route (partner of a British citizen or settled person), Skilled Worker, UK Ancestry, Long Residence, Private Life and most other routes, unless they are exempt (under 18, 65 or over, a degree taught in English, a national of a majority English-speaking country, medical grounds). Citizenship stays at B1. If your settlement application goes in before that date, B1 is still enough.

My English is A2. Is this for me?

Yes, and be realistic: from A2 to a B2 pass is usually a year of steady work, not a month. Use the free practice to see where you stand today. The report tells you plainly whether you are near or far, and what to fix first. Practising the real conversation every day is the fastest way to get there; reading grammar books is not.

Is an AI listening to me? What happens to my voice?

Yes. The examiner is an AI speech model running on Microsoft Azure in the EU, not a person. Your voice is streamed to it and turned into text; the audio is not stored by us. We keep the transcript and your report so you can come back to them. Nobody trains a model on your conversations.

How accurate is the grade?

It is an estimate of how a Trinity examiner would mark that conversation, built on Trinity’s published Grade 7 performance descriptors, which cover communication, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Trinity’s scale is A distinction, B merit, C pass, D fail. Treat a C as "you would scrape this phase today", a D as "not yet", and look at the reasons more than the letter. A real examiner on a real day can differ.

When does the full mock open, and what will it cost?

January 2027. One payment, no subscription: £34 for 3 months with 10 full 15-minute mocks and unlimited phase practice, or £59 for 12 months with 30 mocks. People who leave their email now get the first pack for £19. If you fail the real exam first time, send us the result and we extend you for three months free.
